Website returns a 'Message Not Sent' or '422 Unprocessed Entity' error

Updated Friday, August 11, 2023

Automated bots and spammers scour the web constantly, attempting to submit bogus messages, also called "spam".

Spam messages are not just annoying; they can deliver potentially dangerous phishing scams, security exploits, and computer viruses to your inbox.

For your safety, your website rejects inquiries that

  • may be spam, or
  • contain offensive language

When an inquiry is rejected, the error message below is displayed to the website visitor.

Legitimate website visitors can click Go Back to return to the contact form, modify their message, and submit it again.

Additional information

Each time your website rejects a potential spam inquiry with the above error, it is recorded in your website statistics as a '422 Unprocessed Entity' error.

422 errors are normal and can be disregarded; many spam attempts are rejected daily.

If you or one of your website visitors experience a 'Message Not Sent' error while sending a legitimate message on your website, please let us know. If possible, please include the text of the message that was rejected. This will help us adjust our spam filters if needed.
