Google uses an auction system to decide which Google Ads appear at the top of the search results page.

Therefore, displaying your ads at the top of the page will generally be more expensive (per click) than showing them elsewhere.

If your goal is to maximize the number of leads, consider the following scenario where both agents have a daily ad budget of $20.:

  • Agent A targets the top position where the average cost per click (CPC) is $5. This means that in one day, Agent A will receive approximately 4 clicks, resulting in 4 visitors to their website.
  • Agent B does not target the top position. Their average cost per click (CPC) is $2, meaning that in one day, they will receive around 10 clicks resulting in 10 visitors to their website.

Targeting the top position without increasing your ad budget results in fewer ad clicks and fewer chances to generate leads.

If you would like to modify your Google Ads campaign to aim for the top position, now that you have a clear understanding of the factors involved, just let us know.
